A few books I have recently read....
I’ve been reading several books this week and wanted to share the reviews with you.
I also have several ARCs to read this coming week and have updated my ARC page.
Please check them out, the release dates are listed under the book.
Love the storyline and the craziness of picking up a stranger and having it turn your life completely around in a good way. I like how we learn just a little about Sara and Jackson’s pasts and the main focus is on the present and how their relationship develops and moves towards the future. Ms. Gunn has created some great characters — Sara is a strong and independent woman who has a great job and doesn’t feel like she has to have a man in her life and due to how her dad was she is cautious around men. Jackson is a former Marine trying to figure out what his calling in life should be. He is very caring and loving in both words and actions towards Sara.

This is a second chance love story and is told mainly from Sebastian’s point of view with a few chapters being told from Kimberley’s point of view. This makes sense as this is “The Hunter Brothers Series” therefore the focus should be on Seb. This is book two in the series but can be read as a complete standalone.
I enjoyed the banter between the brothers and with Seb being the youngest, I understand why Matt and Chance have fun getting him riled up. I loved the way they surprised Seb with Kimberley’s return and they way Matt can goad him into doing what is right.
Kimberley is a strong and independent woman who knows what she wants and goes for it, if it involves business. She has trouble expressing that in her personal life which makes her relatable.
As a side character, Bernie (Seb’s personal assistant) is like a mother hen and is spot on with her job. The banter between her and Seb is hilarious and she has Seb’s back 100% and is not afraid to tell him when he’s messed up.
Overall this book is well written with great characters and a storyline that kept me from putting the book down. I eagerly await the arrival of Chance’s story.

This is a well written story of getting a second chance at love and is told from the heroine and hero’s point of views. I like how it starts with a chapter from each point of view of what happened seven years earlier. I felt like this helped to understand why Carrie and Travis were reluctant to talk about their feelings when they ran into each other again.
The storyline is realistic — trying to connect with an older child you didn’t know about, trying to rebuild an adult relationship, wondering if your bad relationship with your parents will effect the way you connect to your child, learning to trust again, etc. I like how strong Carrie is to stand up to her parents and to go for what she wants along with how willingly Travis wants to protect her. The instant connection Travis has with Amelia is heartwarming.
