No matter what I’m not opening up my heart again, even if he’s great at warming my bed.

Jasper blew out of town taking my heart with him. He swore he’d never come back. Last I heard he was some famous chef in a big city.

Then I’m at the farmer’s market and there he is in vivid color. So, I do what any sane person would do, I throw a kiwi at him and leave.

Then a storm blows in washing out the only bridge off this island and now we are stuck together.

To make matters worse? My chef quits and the only option I have is to bring in Jasper per his mother’s suggestion.

Oh, and my best friend is in a fake relationship with a Hollywood Movie Star, and I just saw Jasper with his shirt off.

Plus our mayor working with some land developer and trying to turn our small town into a major tourist spot that will kill all the local businesses.

How did my life get here?

Can we put aside our differences long enough to work together?

Yes, we can.

I think the better question is can we stay out of bed long enough to stop them?

An Inn Owner, a Chef, and a Second Chance at Love

Ms. Rose has written a wonderful, five star book to conclude the Chasing the Sun Duet. Having read “Sunrise” first, I was familiar with Brynn & Jasper’s story but just the condensed version as it coincided with Lin & Kade’s story. “Sunset” repeats a few scenes from “Sunrise” but gives more detail from Brynn and/or Jasper’s side. Plus there are many more scenes not in the first book and we get to experience Lin & Kade’s wedding and get a little life update on them. I think it’s great that the ladies welcome the men into the fold, and they all become good friends. Jasper’s mom, Mrs. Adams is too funny! She keeps telling him “I want a daughter-in-law and THEN grand babies” even when Jasper is just beginning to woo Brynn.

Brynn and Jasper have known each other since they were young children having both grown up on the island. Jasper moved to New York while Brynn stayed home to run the Sunset Inn after her parents died. Jasper moves home after his dad passes away and starts to woo Brynn back into his arms.

Having been hurt by Jasper before, Brynn is very reluctant to fall back into a relationship with him. Encouraged by Lin and Kade, Brynn’s best friend & new husband who run the Sunrise Inn next door, Jasper keeps trying to woo Brynn.

This are lots of sweet and romantic moments in the story, here are a few of my favorites —

Jasper being proud of Brynn the way she threw kiwis at him
The first thunderstorm Brynn encounters after Lin gets married
The way Jasper refuses to have sex with Brynn until the third date even saying “that’s not first date appropriate “
The Sunset events at sundown
Lin & Kade showing their love by being there for Brynn and giving Jasper the heads up on some things

No story is perfect, there is drama, frustration, and mixed emotions involved. Hopefully, they can work thru it.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
