When Failure Meets Fate

 This is the first book by Mariah Ankenman that I have read, and I was hooked from the beginning. Told from the third person point of view, the story includes many emotions — embarrassment, angst, and drama, to name a few. There are sweet and romantic sex scenes along with funny mishaps like igniting a microwave on fire and get a high heel caught in a sidewalk grate.

Some of my favorite parts —

  • The camaraderie of the firefighters
  • The “Lumbersnacks” and the “Most Extinguished”
  • The banter between Tamsen and Parker along with the trivia night bets

Every relationship has struggles and that includes Parker and Tamsen. The hunky firefighter has trust issues thanks to his dad abandoning him and the beautiful artist is accident prone which has caused issues with previous guys she dated.

If you like romantic comedies and alternating between laughing out loud and swooning at sweet nothings, this is the book for you.
