REVIEW OF SCORING WITH HIM

 Hello Book Friends!

I haven’t posted much in the last few weeks due to an illness, I haven’t been 100% since Memorial Day Weekend. The last few weeks it turned into pneumonia so I haven’t read much, watched much tv, or done much of anything. I’m finally getting some energy back and last week I read two new books by Lauren Blakely — Crushing on Him and Scoring With Him. Both are great books and I am excited fo4 the conclusion of Grant and Declan’s story in Winning With Him, due to release on August 6th.

Wishing you lots of reading happiness this week!

CRUSHING ON HIM
A MEN OF SUMMER PREQUEL
BY LAUREN BLAKELY

Written from Grant’s POV, this short prequel starts with high school student Grant figuring out he is gay and telling his best friend. It marks the moment an out of the closet, gay, professional baseball player is signed to a local team. This player, Declan, becomes the man of Grant’s dreams and fantasies. The book takes us thru Grant’s college years, time in the minors, and getting called to the majors where he gets the chance to meet his crush.

The book is well written and shares the struggles young people have with coming out and shows how to deal with it in a positive way. Grant has a great support system with his best friend, grandparents, and sister.

SCORING WITH  HIM
MEN OF SUMMER BOOK 1
BY LAUREN BLAKELY

So I wasn’t sure if I would like reading a full length m/m romance, but truly enjoyed reading “Scoring with Him”. This is about more than romance as Grant and Declan form a friendship before the romance begins, but let me tell you — these two guys know how to flirt and they were flirting from the start! There were many times I was laughing out loud at the banter between them, and between the whole team. I enjoyed the hazing they gave the rookies and how everything off the field turns into a bet such as playing pool and squats.

The story includes lots of inner turmoil, the should we/shouldn’t we debate, friendship, and teamwork. There are highs and lows and one heck of a cliffhanger. I’m looking forward to reading the conclusion to the story in “Winning with Him”.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily giving an honest review
